Adopt-A-Family - Denver Salvation Army

As the wise Denzel Washington once said, “At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted up. Who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”

The holidays are a time of joy, celebration and childlike magic. For us here at Denver Media Group, the holidays are a time to be the givers of joy, celebrations and childlike magic. We can easily say that giving to those in need has always brought us the most joy.

This year, we’re humbled to announce our team has adopted a family through the Salvation Army.

What is the Adopt-A-Family program?

The Adopt-A-Family program through the Salvation Army is designed to assist families in need during the holidays due to homelessness, medical issues, unemployment or other problematic circumstances.

Did you know millions of children across America will go without Christmas gifts because their parents can’t afford them? Not on our watch.

As parents ourselves, we’re on a mission to bring as much holiday cheer to those around us as possible. It’s not just about the presents. It’s about giving all the love, support and memories we can.

What can you do this holiday season?

Adopt a family of your own through the Salvation Army! By contacting your local branch, their team can assist you in finding a family that would benefit greatly from your generosity. Don’t know how to get in touch with your Salvation Army? Click here and search via your zip code.

If adopting a family isn’t in the cards for you this year, there are still plenty of opportunities for you to give this holiday season!

Volunteer your time!

The benefits of volunteering are endless. As a society, we love to make an impact on others.

Did you know there are proven benefits to volunteering?

  1. Build community. The connections one makes while volunteering with others strengthens and builds relationships with others who volunteer. We can tell you first hand, we’ve made some of the most memorable connections through our own volunteer efforts. On a personal level and a professional level.

  2. End loneliness. Forty-five percent of people in the United States admit to feeling lonely. Know what aids in easing that loneliness? Volunteering. Social interaction not only improves your mental health, but your physical health. Up your immune system and lower your risk of depression and anxiety, all through volunteering.

  3. Reduce stress. Volunteering reduces stress and overall, improves your well-being. You know what happens when you’re less stressed? You age gracefully. Studies show senior volunteers physically benefit from their volunteer time because it makes them active and happy.

We hope you take the opportunity this holiday season to give back. Whether it’s through monetary donations, gift giving or volunteering your time...everything counts.

From our happy hearts to yours, happy giving
